The Wells

Approximately 73% to 75% of Nepal's population lacks access to safe, properly treated, or "safely managed" drinking water, despite high coverage of basic, often contaminated, water sources. While about 95% have access to some form of basic water, only 16%–27% use water that is safe and meets quality standards. One of the most long term impacts of the trip was the installment of various wells to provide clean water to rural communities. This is more than providing drinking water, it is about saving lives from water borne diseases. Through this visual and practical act of service, we demonstrate that Christ is the fountain of living water (John 4; 7:37-38). Each well costs $900. On the canoe trip (see photo below) the woman on the canoe dedicated her life to Christ! Another type of living well!
